Character Modes
NexusRO offers two optional permanent challenge modes you can apply to any character. Both are opt-in, irreversible, and visible to other players via a persistent aura. The NPCs are located in the Starting Zone (new_1-2).
These choices are permanent and cannot be undone.
Hardcore (HC)
NPC: Hardcore Master
Aura: Swirling flame
Location: new_1-2 (97, 27)
Hardcore is a permadeath mode. When your character dies to a monster, it is permanently removed from your character list.
As a trade-off, fate grants you one last mercy:
While above 50% HP, a killing blow will leave you at 1 HP instead of killing you.
This protection has a 5-minute cooldown before it can trigger again.
To confirm, you must type HC when prompted.
Solo Self-Found (SSF)
NPC: Self-Found Master
Aura: Bubble
Location: new_1-2 (103, 27)
SSF locks your character into full self-reliance. Everything you have, you earned yourself.
